The Upper House of State Parliament voted last night to support Greens’ amendments to the Freedom of Information Act, but without Government support, the culture of secrecy that has plagued South Australia for years, is set to continue, according to Greens MLC, Mark Parnell.

The first Liberal State Budget in 16 years is a predictable piece of work that takes the axe to public servants, ignores the environment, cuts services to those who most need them and keeps the big end of town happy. Thousands of public servants are facing forced redundancies.
With a majority of State Parliament’s Upper House now committed to opposing rate capping for local councils, attention should now focus on improving accountability for rate spending, according to Greens MLC, Mark Parnell.
Today in SA Parliament, both the Marshall Liberal Government and the Labor Opposition voted down a Greens Bill to end automatic pay rises for state MPs.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Upper House of State Parliament will vote on a Greens’ Bill to ban fracking for gas in the South East region of South Australia.
